Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten students love to explore the world around them. They are in awe watching tiny seeds grow into flowers. Our science center is in desperate need of materials to help my children learn more about our planet and its wonders. I want their love of science to grow in our classroom.

My kindergarten students experience school for the first time in September.

It is a new world for them and I try to make the classroom a warm and intellectually stimulating place. I like our classroom community to be filled with wonder, colors, and life. Our school is in an urban, low socioeconomic area and it is very crowded, 1,600 amazing students attend our K-5 school in New York.

My Project

The materials I have requested will help my students better explore their world. The large view magnifying glass is safe for my little ones and effective to teach them how to observe plants, animals, and minerals. The bugs, wild life, and ocean animals will allow them to discuss with partners physical attributes of animals and act out their behaviors and sounds, which will make the learning experience more rich.

This project is so important because natural science is a beautiful part of a young learner's education.

In our very urban area the closest thing my students have to nature is the park, which is surrounded by concrete. I want them to experience science learning in a hands on, interactive way that will not only teach them important concepts, but teach them respect for our planet and all living things.
