Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a teacher in a low-income and high-poverty school district. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences in order to achieve their highest level of academic achievement.

I may not be able to control their home lives, but I can certainly control their experiences during the school day.

From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.

My Project

Young children are naturally inquisitive, full of questions about the world around them and the drive to investigate how things work. Providing opportunities for scientific discovery in early years settings is beneficial to young children in several ways. Scientific explorations and observations generate so much thought, conversation and knowledge. These are all things that are so important at this age. These children take these experiences throughout their school careers.

The Science Center materials I have selected will generate thought, conversation, observation and self explorations in our classroom!

These materials will help the children with the 7 basic preschool science concepts. These concepts are observing, comparing, classifying, measuring, communicating, inferring and predicting. These experiences will help the children across all academic areas!
