My Students
There are six amazing students in my classroom. We work together in a special education classroom in Fresh Meadows NY. Each student in our group has a unique personality and I am lucky to have such an amazing group and classroom staff in my first year. Though my students have a low cognitive level, I can see their eagerness to learn and to experience new things. The smiles on their faces keep up motivated, even when the days are tough.
My Project
The students in my class love tangible, hand held learning. It can be difficult to assimilate and interpret information that I am delivering by voice. Having these Magformers Power Gears, Snaptricity and Magic School Bus Space Kits will allow them to learn hands on and immediately see the results of their efforts come to life. Much of the focus in schools is on ELA and Mathematics. I would like the children in my room to have a thriving science center where they can take their learning into their own hands. Science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) is an important concept to grasp in addition to the core curriculum we already focus on.
