This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Science is a subject where my students can engage in investigations and observations, and where they can be creative. But with limited tools, student learning becomes compromised.

Our school is located in an economically disadvantaged part of the city.

All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Our school is named after a former educational aide who worked diligently to make our school and community a better place. I have a class of 26 enthusiastic, vivacious and eager kindergarten students. They are creative and love to learn. Unfortunately, our school lacks the funds to purchase additional science tools that would enrich student learning.

My Project

With hand magnifiers and painting stations my students could further their creativity and learning. Magnifiers would assist my students during observations for my science units, such as insect, five senses, trees, etc. My painting stations would be used across the board. Having a painting station would allow me to incorporate art and science. For example, my students could paint their favorite insect or an object they see, taste, touch, listen, or hear while using their five senses.

The donations for my request would greatly impact learning in my classroom.

My students are going to express themselves creatively, and will have the proper tools needed during my science lessons. Thank you in advance for your kindness. My students will be grateful for the opportunity to engage in these fun activities that they would otherwise go without.
