Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year, I will continue to have the pleasure of teaching and assisting in building our gifted program. They are smart, funny, witty, and highly capable students who deserve every resource money can buy to help them succeed in education and in life. Most of the students in this local, small neighborhood school have been enrolled since Pre-K.

My Project

The best way to learn science is by using a hands on approach! My students will stay with me through third, fourth and fifth grade. During these years, they engage in science and STEAM activities to enhance their learning, make science more fun and ultimately pass the state test at the end of 5th grade.

Science at your fingertips!

The solar system items will be used to help transform the classroom into the milky way galaxy with the glow in the dark planets on the walls and projecting them into the air to see their location in relation to the sun.

The motors, batteries and holders help us build our STEAM projects and engage in electrical circuit labs light reflection/refraction. The lightbulbs and holders are part of building electrical circuits. The prism glasses help us see the refraction take place when we can't get the classroom dark enough to see it with flashlights.

In 5th grade, we build our own anemometers with paper cups, but the students always have lingering questions about the actual speed of the wind. I would love to help answer their questions on the spot without looking up the answer on an app or the internet.
