My Students

Dr. Seuss once said, "Oh! The Places You'll Go! You'll be on your way up! You'll be seeing great sights! You'll join high fliers who soar to high heights." My school celebrates each child and their individual gifts and talents. Children are on a quest for learning each day.

We are lucky to have a school that celebrates diversity in both cultures and most importantly, learning styles.

In trying to meet the needs of our diverse classrooms and learners, we struggle to have appropriate materials for both our highest and lowest readers--as well as those on level. We are greatly in need of guided reading books (both in fiction and non-fiction) to supplement and reinforce our reading and writing instruction. We also would like to fill our guided reading library with books that are of high-interest topics to our students. After all, the goal is for our students to become life-long learners and to be passionate about everything they do--including reading.

My Project

These 3 guided reading book sets will allow ALL the students to access literature in a brand new way. They will be able to skyrocket their imaginations into any universe as they delve into new and interesting books. These books would help the teachers reach all their learners at the appropriate level and allow access to high interest texts in order to challenge and encourage students' love of reading. In our classrooms, we would use the book sets for small guided reading lessons and independent reading. The sets allow for students to work together and have conversations about the text. This discussion helps students increase their reading skills and promote a deeper understanding of the text. We chose text sets that are of high interest to our students to increase motivation in readers, especially struggling readers.

Your generous donations will greatly improve our ability to reach all of our students with literature.

Our goal is to instill a passion for reading in all of our students and expose them to their potential--each and every student. We want our students to ultimately love reading. These book sets will help us to continue to provide our students with the best education, in particular a classroom full of quality texts that they will enjoy learning from and have discussions about.
