This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a 5th grade teacher in Emeryville. As with many California Public Schools, we are in the midst of a budget crisis. In order to help supply our students with basic supplies, I have created a Donor's Choose project to help our students have access to basic supplies like copy paper.

Our students come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.

We are a Title I school and all of our students qualify for free school lunch. I am proud to be a part of the Emery Unified School district where inclusion for students with special needs is celebrated.

My Project

These requested materials are used for all grade levels for a myriad of activities and lessons. It is essential that students are able to have access to copy paper. Although, we are putting many efforts in place to move to paperless classrooms, it is not practical for our lower elementary students who need to have homework packets and assignments printed. As well as access to paper so that notices can go home to families. Especially to provide equity where some parents do not have access to electronic devices.

In order for lessons to be interactive and accessible for our more kinesthetic learners, copy paper makes a huge difference.

As of today, our school will be rationing our paper which will make creating differentiated lessons difficult. It is important the we consistently have access to these supplies in order to help our students learn and continue to grow academically.
