Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a low socioeconomic area. Many of my students have been in foster care. They struggle with reading and math concepts. They are always lacking in basic classroom supplies.

These students have a difficult time feeling successful and then, they also have to worry about not being prepared for school.

My goal as a teacher is for every student to succeed and feel great about even the smallest of accomplishments, without having to worry about being prepared for school.

I presently use a ticket reward system to motivate my students and "it works"! It becomes expensive and I would like to continue to utilize this system because these student can achieve. Our school goal is for every student to reach that graduation cap, as you can see by our new school logo.

My Project

I would like my students to choose an important school topic such as uniforms in school, lunch preferences, favorite subjects, issues kids have now and more!

They will then survey the school, compile the results on a chart or a graph, find the mode median, mean, and range (all statistical data).

We will then post all the data in the halls for all of our school and visitors to see. The notebooks will help with instruction. The chart paper, sentence strips and border will be used for display as well as the colored pencils and crayons. We always need a good sharpener while working. The white boards are for instruction. The other items such as raffle tickets and pens are for motivation.
