My Students

Our middle school is a Title I school and many of the students come from low income families. At our school, 98% of students receive free or reduced price meals. Over 30% of our students receive special education services and many others function well below grade level. The total enrollment is just over 350 students. Our school is transitioning to a STEAM (Science/Technology/ Engineering/Art/Math) model school. Our Low Incidence students have multiple disabilities that impedes their ability to fully participate in the general education setting. However, they enjoy building, learning with technology, and exploring through numerous and diverse activities. The general education population enjoys working with these special students and helping them socialize and grow into active and responsible individuals. However, we lack many of the materials needed for them to access grade level endeavors while working with resources they are able to use.

As our school transitions and students begin to learn coding, our Low Incidence students need a variety of hands-on tools and technology to access programs that will not only support their STEAM learning process but allow them to participate with their peers.

My Project

School supplies in general are very expensive for families, with each student requiring between $50 and $100 for supplies for the year. Many students in my school are not able to purchase all of the necessary supplies based on their situation, and are inherently at a major disadvantage by not being prepared with necessary school supplies and learning activities that support our curriculum.

With these donations, students' and families' worries can be alleviated about having the necessary materials for class.

No student should have to come to school without the necessary materials to allow them to be ready to learn and learn safely. Please help me make this possible. Thank you!
