My Students

Creativity, imagination, problem solving, and collaboration are key components to authentic learning in our classroom. I have high expectations for every student. It is my responsibility to provide a variety of learning opportunities to help each child meet or exceed their goals. Our school is a K-2 school with approximately 1,100 children enrolled.

We have a diverse population of ethnic backgrounds, a growing ELL population, a high percentage of students who need accelerated learning opportunities, and students who need reading and math interventions to help them establish a firm foundation for successful learning.

My Project

I love teaching my second graders how to organize their work at the beginning of the year so they can learn and practice this important life skill. The folders will be used for different subjects as well as a take-home communication folder. Students will use the pencil pouches to hold any notes, money, and pencils in their take-home folder, and they will learn to check this pouch daily. The special scented pencils will be given to them at the beginning of the year as a back-to-school gift, and I will award personal best work with scratch-and-sniff stickers throughout the year.
