Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a group of 30 dual language first graders. They are learning in Spanish and English every day. I get the privilege of teaching the English side of our program at a Title I school and I get to watch these incredible second language learners develop a new language and excel at it.

The majority of my students come from low income households and don't often have all the resources they need to succeed.

At school, we try to create a space of support and safety and provide all the resources they could need.

My students are becoming super readers every day, and it brings me so much joy watching as they discover this entire new world of adventure. Early literacy will be a big focus for us this year, and I can't wait to see the growth these incredible students make.

My Project

Each year, I do everything I can to provide school supplies and materials for my students. Many come from low income homes and this is a way that I can help them and provide for them the supplies they need to succeed in school.

These supplies will directly impact my students and give them a great start to the year!

The highlighters, red and green crayons will be used for Orton Gillingham learning strategies to teach syllabication and high frequency words. The soft seats will give them some flexible seating. The pencils and whiteboard markers will allow the students to have the supplies necessary for writing. They will have a lot of fun with these supplies and will be engaged in learning!
