This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My student's are growing up in a high risk area, where most people count them out before they even get started. They live in a neighborhood that is primarily section 8 housing.
We are a Title I school, and All of the students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Most students come to school without having any school supplies from home. Unfortunately funding has been cut in our district and supplies are not easily accessible. It is my hope to update our classroom by providing resources we do not have access to.
My Project
My students could really use pencils for writing. Crayons are essential for expressing their understanding of our world through illustrations. We also go through many glue sticks throughout the year. When supplies run out, we have to stop making works of art to hang up around the room. Throughout the year, we use dry erase boards and are always in need of some dry erase cleaner and markers.
All the resources I am asking for will help inspire and motivate my students to soar this school year.
The pencils, crayons, and glue sticks need a place to be stored, so I am asking for pencil boxes as well.
