My Students

Hello friends!

Martin Luther King once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'"

Next year, I will be teaching middle school english/social studies in Los Angeles, California. As a sixth grade teacher, they will be entering their very first year of middle school. I will be working with about sixty different students in an ethnically linguistically diverse, and low income community. As an educator, I believe that the liberal arts is a powerful tool to promote civic engagement, public service, and social justice.

My Project

My students will be working with me for both English Language Arts and Social Studies. Our class work and learning will revolve around an interactive notebook where students have handouts, writing, and artwork. Using an "interactive notebook" allows students to organize material, keep all their assignments and work in one place, and actively integrate social studies with English language arts. Students will use their notebooks every day and the scissors and glue to add handouts. Writing utensils and colored pencils... This donation will help provide basic everyday supplies to help my students better learn! Over 90 percent of my students are considered socioeconomically disadvantaged and 100 percent qualify for free or reduced lunch. Providing supplies for my classroom allows my students to have the necessary classroom supplies and focus primarily on learning and growing! This donation will help begin the year on a positive note! Thank you so much for your kindness.
