This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 3rd graders are amazing knowledge seekers and full of questions. They absolutely love engaging in learning with their classmates and participating with each other every day! My students come from diverse cultural backgrounds, and many of them are English Language Learners or special needs students and come from low socioeconomic households. Each and every one of them is unique with its own set of special strengths and abilities.

My students' motivation and eagerness to learn is their biggest and most significant strength!

They are inner-city kids that have bravely faced the unexpected challenges of this pandemic. During these uncertain times, they are still determined and dedicated to their work. They wake up every morning, happy and ready to learn and engage with their school family. They are a most amazing group of kids that will surely have the brightest of futures!

My Project

As we all know, the beginning of the school year can be VERY exciting for all members of our school community, yet it can also become very overwhelming when it comes to having everything we need to start the school year right. Teachers want to be ahead of the game and be super ready for their new students with everything they will need....students want to eagerly participate and learn, and parents want to make sure their children are prepared. Being that the majority of my students come from low-income, working-class families, I wish to relieve some of the burdens of back-to-school mania!

My students will have top-quality school supplies that will not only provide them with the basic learning tools they need, but motivate them to participate and engage in their learning!

With these school supplies, my students' families will not have to worry about spending too much money that can otherwise go to other family needs, such as buying their children's school snacks and/or new uniforms. My students will be able to use their brand-new art supplies such as markers, colored pencils, and oil pastels when engaging in our SEL art activities or in adding illustrations to their writing pieces that will hang on our bulletin boards. They will use colored pens and highlighters to write in their writing notebooks and highlight important text evidence during reading lessons. The possibilities are endless! All in all, my kiddos will be able to use their school supplies to support their learning without having them worry about whether they will be able to partake in a certain activity because they don't have what they need. Most importantly, my students will be able to receive their own supplies to use and promote safe learning during this pandemic.
