This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year has definitely not been easy for my students with special needs! Virtual Learning has many challenges and obstacles. One major challenge being engagement, it is extremely difficult to get young children to focus and be engaged during Virtual Learning. Another challenge, is technology connectivity. Despite these challenges, my students, their parents, and I have risen to the occasion and worked tirelessly to make the best out of this situation! Right now, we are building the foundation in Kindergarten, First & Second Grade. We all know how important these fundamental years are and we are trying our best to still provide students with these valuable experiences in an online setting!

My Project

My students miss coming to school everyday! Unfortunately, school is not the same. Thinking about the experiences my young students are going to miss not being at school makes me determined to do anything I can to improve Virtual Learning. I want to ensure that I provide them with the proper materials to succeed at home. I would like to prepare School Supply Totes that they could use at home similar to the learning materials that we use in school!

I want more for my students than what their computer can provide!

They need more than just learning in front of a computer. I want my students to continue to learn in multiple ways even when they're not physically at school. Each student would have their own set of school supplies to use at home! The tote bags would contain hands-on learning activities. In addition, I will create activities and resources to include with the school supplies for both literacy and math support. These will be used for my students to practice literacy and math skills hands-on in addition to their online activities.
