My Students

I teach math to special education students in a public high school setting. Students have many classifications including learning disability, emotional disturbance, visual impairments, and other health impairments. Our classroom is small and does not have any technology (one of the 4 classrooms without a smartboard). My students struggle with basic math concepts and can benefit from enlarged materials, guided notes, and hands-on activities. All of my students work hard to succeed in the classroom and continue to stay motivated.

My Project

Help give my students school supplies to assist them in the learning process. Many students come to school without a pencil and continue to misplace their supplies. Having a surplus of pencils for the students to use will help the beginning of class run smoother.

The students can also benefit from a binder to keep themselves organized.

Their notes are always shoved into their backpacks (the black hole) and get crumpled. Binders will help.

Since many cannot read a clock, a timer with a visual component can help them with their time management skills during assessments such as quizzes and tests.
