My Students

My students are not unique to NYC, but unique to the rest of the country. We are a class made up of students from all over the world- Pakistan, El Salvador, Mexico, Ukraine, Russia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Republic of Georgia and Puerto Rico. Many students arriving from their native countries only a few years to a few weeks ago. With that being said, these children are have taken to their new homes with the bright-eyed wonder only a child could have.

This unique class amazes me everyday- they may be from all over the world, but they accept each other with open arms and kindness as if they are family.

I hope to foster this attitude with giving back to the kids with as many resources to keep them engaged and curious.

My Project

I work with Title 1 students in a neighborhood that was hit hard by COVID-19. Many parents are still out of work and are struggling to make ends meet. I want to keep it simple for my students and give them basic supplies so they won't need to worry about anything else. I would like to supply them with sharpened pencils to keep at home and school, binders to transport work to and from school easily, and post its, so they can take notes in the books they are reading. I would also like to stock the classroom with cleaning supplies to ensure all of our health and safety.

My hope is to support my students in anyway I can- and give them the advantage to start the school year right without stress.

They will surely appreciate the help and these materials will work well with the supplies I already have in my classroom to share.
