Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I generally teach a diverse group of students. Last year, I had students in my classroom whose families were from Mexico and Central America, India, Ethiopia, and various parts of the United States. My students also usually come from socio-economically diverse backgrounds. Yet, despite their differences, my students are eager to learn and work hard everyday. This year, we face the added challenge of a global pandemic and having to work with each other while being miles apart. The materials I am requesting will help bring a bit of the classroom into my students' homes and give them a place to set down their ideas in addition to the work they will submit digitally.

My Project

The materials I am requesting will provide my students with a tool kit that they can use during our distance learning lessons. The whiteboards and dry erase markers will allow my students to display math strategies, practice spelling words, and give me other feedback. The composition notebooks, pencils, erasers, and crayons will allow them to practice their writing and reflect on their learning.

I worry that many of my students' families will not be able to purchase supplies for the children.

So I hope you will help fund this project so that they will have these supplies to help them succeed.
