Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at the tip of Texas, bordering Mexico, where my students speak Spanglish. They face many challenges such as dyslexia, special needs, and are socioeconomically disadvantaged, but that doesn't stop them from dreaming big. Nevertheless, my students are creative, thoughtful, and full of excitement!

Many students can't afford to buy supplies, especially in this Covid pandemic!!

By having these supplies my students will feel excited and ready to start school. When starting school, students want to feel prepared. If I can have these supplies ready for the students, they will not feel left out and will be set up for a successful year! I know having a student feel prepared for the school year sets the tone! Students love to have new supplies to start the year!

My Project

I am so excited to be able to welcome back a full classroom of second graders into my classroom on all five days of the week! This means that there will be many changes made in terms of the setup of my classroom to ensure safe social distancing as well as organizational of supplies. Since I had to send home most of the supplies that I had in my classroom to children learning at home, I need to replenish necessary items such as pencils, paper, binders, erasers, crayons, and glue sticks. I want my classroom to be welcoming and for my students to be set up for success from the start.
