School Supplies for a Bright Start

My students need school supplies for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year to prepare them for a fresh start. WE need pencils, markers, highlighters and more.

My Students

I am a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district and my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the daily challenges, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with a learning experience that is creative and meaningful .

My students are highly motivated, active, and love hands-on learning.

They like to move and dance, they love to read, and LOVE lots of positive attention. The majority of them are on a free/reduced lunch based on their socioeconomic status. From the moment they walk in I'm like their "school mom" and make sure that they are well-taken care of from having a snack to our school providing weekend food so they are not going hungry during that time. From the minute they walk in the door, I focus on providing them with a cohesive learning environment where they feel welcomed and loved. I may not be able to control on what happens at home, but I can control what happens during the school day. By doing this in a fun, entertaining, and positive way, I hope that I can instill a love of learning for a lifetime.

My Project

I am asking for sets of durable plastic folders that will last the duration of the school year, pink pearl erasers, glue sticks, pencils, pencil pouches, crayons, highlighters, and dry erase markers.

At the beginning of the school year, students are to bring in supplies, but some are unable to due to financial situations.

These supplies will help these students who are unable to bring in supplies. Even at times, when students move into the school district, they come in with nothing but their jackets and a book bag. If I am able to obtain these supplies for these students, they will feel more confident and comfortable in the new school setting. They will also feel like they aren't left out and go through the day knowing that they have the materials that they will need to succeed in my classroom.
