Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Entering my 14th year teaching, I am excited to teach AVID 9 for the first time. Teaching in East LA, I want to ensure that all my students feel safe and have enough materials needed to make our first AVID 9 class memorable.

In this course, students will be learning the importance of social justice advocacy, problem solving, and goal setting.

In addition, we will be exploring college and career options by conducting research projects, interviews, and Socratic seminars. We are requesting markers, pens and more. My goal is to assist our students in their transition to high school, as well as promoting critical thinking in and outside of the classroom.

Looking forward to growing with my future AVID 9 students.
