Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

These are unprecedented times. Never did I imagine that when my students and I said goodbye in March it would be the last time that I would see them all in person! Even though we were successful with our distance learning this year, the uncertainty for next year is definitely weighing heavy on my students and families!

My students and I have embarked on the distance learning journey and will most likely continue this journey in the new school year!

We are actively engaging in all sorts of different online platforms and learning new things. My students and I participate in daily Google Meet video calls where we learn our new math lessons, check in with each other and play games for social interaction. In addition, I am recording lessons at home for them to view and continue to learn new material. I am amazed by their level of engagement and participation, and families' willingness to try new things! My students truly are the most resilient people I know!

My Project

The materials from this project are so important for my students during these unprecedented times. This year, my goal is to provide my students with materials that they will need for the upcoming school year. Many of the parents in our school community are out of work because of the pandemic. Because of this, I want to do my part as a teacher to provide the necessary school supplies for students at no cost to families during this difficult time.

In order to be successful in 3rd grade, my students need the proper tools and supplies!

The materials from this project will help my students stay organized. Color coded folders make it easy for students to keep track of their work. Labels will be used to label all their materials with their names and pencil cases will be used to keep track of pencils and art supplies. In addition, since the probability of blended learning is high, my students will be taking supplies home quite often and being organized will be even more important.

During the summer months, parents are often stressed with spending money on school supplies and this year I hope to relieve that burden. Please help me give my students supplies so they can be successful in 3rd grade!
