Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds. They live in a neighborhood in which there is high poverty. Many of our students live in a shelter, with a foster parent or in public housing projects. Their parents may not have the economic resources to cater to their every need, this includes school supplies. The students that I specifically serve are students with disabilities, which in many cases are behind academically and require explicit instruction to generalize and maintain newly taught concepts.

Approximately 25% of the school population are students with disabilities.

They need our support and encouragement.

My Project

Supplies for success! The materials requested will be used to provide intensive reading intervention to our most needed children. The Sounds Sensible program/level will help our children by providing the necessary beginner skills for readers. My students can use this to learn about the sounds of letters and how to distinguish between beginning and ending sounds in words. This program provides an interactive and fun way to learn for our little ones. The other materials being requested in this project will help supplement other types of learning activities that require drafting, writing, cutting and pasting of drawings. What a fantastic way of helping our communities by helping our children learn without having to worry about certain supplies.
