My Students

My students come from hard working, low-income households where English is their second language. They are of different cultures and ethnicities. These are kindergarteners and 1st graders in a self contained class that includes students of English Language Learners and students with special needs. They were in fully remote preschool and kindergarten last year

They have missed out on a lot of learning/creativity while attending class remotely.

They had a tough time learning remotely at such a young age. It has been a very tough year for everyone.

My Project

This year I am teaching a Kindergarten/1st grade self contained bridge class. September will be the 1st time my students will enter a classroom after a year of fully remote learning. I want to start off the year with supplying them with school supplies as well as books to encourage self awareness. My students are from hard working low income families. I would like to lessen the cost of school supplies and have parents worry about other important things in their life other than school supplies.

Starting off the school year with the necessary supplies and read aloud books about self awareness helps make the school year a success for my students with special needs.
