Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I coach and teach in a low-income/high poverty school district. My players are faced with challenges both on and off the field. Despite the many difficulties and challenges they face, we turn to athletics to provide hope. Correlating the athletics and meaningful life learning experiences provide my students with an opportunity to achieve some of their dreams. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 60% of our students receiving free and lunch. There are a multitude of teams and clubs that fit the needs of everyone.

My Project

The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students will impact their lives greatly. After experiencing Hurricane Irma things were lost and items for school was damaged. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! The long sleeve shirts will allow students not only to be in dressed code but for them to have school pride through this time of need. We will use these shirts as a mini-lesson and share the magnitude during this time. My students know how much time they have left in school, and how important it is for good self esteem during the year. The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in giving meaningful support. We will use these materials to aide us in the process of healing. As the teacher, I have done extensive research, reading on bullying and how small tokens can really help shape/change the lives you children. Yet I truly need your support to make this a reality. Thanks!
