Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My second graders will start the academic year with distant learning. They will start the year very excited to see their peers again, with a positive attitude about learning, and great enthusiasm to communicate and collaborate with their classmates. Their enthusiasm for learning and their families close ties to our school community will help making their distance learning experience a positive one.

My students, just like the community around us, have different abilities, experiences, and needs.

There will be some challenges with distance learning, but my students will receive the support they need to maintain their positive attitude for learning and continue establishing positive relationships with their peers.

My Project

One of the most exciting things about the first day of school for our students is brand new school supplies! However, the list of supplies that my district provides is very limited. My second graders need composition journals for writing. Just like most writers, my students will use their writing journals to jot down ideas for possible writing topics, and practice different writing strategies and skills.

My students also need a better quality of lined paper for writing and drawing that won't easily tear when handling or erasing.

I would like all my students to have all the school supplies and materials they might need at home for distant learning.
