Please consider helping elementary students in a low income, rural community. Due to a limited budget, school nurses in our district rely heavily on community resources and donations to obtain supplies for our health offices. Students in our community often seek the school nurse as a first-line resource for health care needs; therefore, the demand for supplies is high.
The current budget only allots for approximately 82 cents per student for health care supplies.
There are well over 600 students in this building that seek treatment and care from the school nurse. The supplies listed in this project are items that cannot be purchased annually and provide students with extra resources that cannot be provided at home. Last year, eight school buildings had over 28,000 office visits for a district with only 4,800 students.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated and welcomed as the school nurses try to stock supplies for the upcoming school year that were not able to be purchased in this year's supply request. Our elementary students will receive top-of-the-line first aid treatment from the school nurse with the requested items and have a healthier school year than ever before thanks to the generosity of your donation.
My Project
Due to our community's low income status, students seek first aid and health needs primarily from the school nurse. The school nurses uses much more in supplies than the annual budget permits. By having good equipment on hand such as stethoscopes and an otoscope I can help guide parents in the right direction when a child is complaining of an earache; should they follow up with their doctor right away. There are also students that require feeding and an IV pole is needed to hang the feedings. I appreciate your consideration!! Healthy students are the key to making them academically successful!
