Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Mural paintings have a long tradition, particularly in Latin America, which reflects the cultural background of many in our student population. Having students create murals for the school helps them take ownership of their education and promotes school pride.

Our school is a Title 1 school and has a high percentage of students who are English Language Learners.

Our school's Art program has been hit drastically by citywide budget cuts, so we are desperately in need of materials, which the families of our students are in no economic position to subsidize.

My Project

The materials I'm requesting are acrylic paints and primer so that the students can create durable murals throughout the school building. These paintings will add color and transform the school building into a welcoming and nurturing environment. They will reflect student interests and the activities of school life. They will also connect to their learning in content areas.

Your donation shows these students that they are worth investing in.

Schools like this one, do not have parental financial resources that can easily fill in budget gaps, so recent cuts hurt these kids the most. Arts education enriches their lives and demonstrates the value of the students' expression. Please support these kids and show them how important you think they are.
