Help me give my students the library book processing materials, such as dust jacket covers, spine label protectors, and library tape, needed to keep our library books looking new through many checkouts.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Students at my school are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. My students love to read and are always looking for a new adventure in a book.
My students are book-loving, avid readers and enthusiastic learners.
There is a buzz about books and an excitement for reading and learning throughout our school. I am the librarian at a PK-8 elementary school in an impoverished urban area that has been especially hard-hit by COVID-19. Our school library is an essential resource for my students. Many of my students do not have access to books at home and rely on our school library to check out high-quality books. It is my goal to create an engaging learning environment for my students and continue to develop their love of reading and learning.
My Project
I am requesting library book processing supplies from a library vendor, Demco, that will help ensure our school library books will last for many checkouts over the years. The library book processing supplies include various sizes of mylar covers to protect the dust jackets on hardcover books, rolls of laminate to cover paperback books, strong clear label protectors to cover the library barcode and spine label, and library tape. Our school library books are checked out by many readers each year and need to withstand the wear and tear of book bags and high circulation while still looking new and appealing.
These supplies will help our library books last for many years and countless student checkouts.
The last time library supplies were ordered for our school library was November 2018. I just used the last of the book covers for paperback books to cover books generously funded through a prior DonorsChoose project. Thankfully I ran out just as I covered my last book! In the past I would use profits from our Scholastic Book Fair to purchase these necessary supplies, however we have not had a book fair since fall 2019. While ordering books "shelf ready" from library vendors, such as Follett, is preferred to eliminate the book processing step, there are many instances when I need to process books myself and these supplies are a necessity.
Thank you for supporting my students and our school library!
