My Students

This year I switched jobs, from a teacher to the librarian of my school. Unfortunately, the printer in the library is not working.

I work with students from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade.

We have a very diverse school in Brooklyn in which 54% of the students come from low income families. My students love to read and they come every week to the library to learn to find books, to enjoy them, and to use them for research.

My Project

I see about four classes of children every day at the library. They check out books, but I also plan activities to teach them how to use the resources in the library. I need a printer to print handouts to use with the children. For example, if they are doing a research project, I might have a handout to help them organize the information that they gather. With a printer students can also print out their research.

In this modern age, it is very hard for a teacher to plan and produce handouts without having a printer.

I want to do the best I can in my new job. You can help me by contributing to this project.
