Every school year is a story – full of hours and days and weeks of hard work and dedication to learning by both teachers and students. Now I want to bring some serious fun and style to the end of a great school year, with a special printer that gives my students an unforgettable experience of crafting their own customizable stickers, even opening up entrepreneurial possibilities for them in the trendy world of Sticker Art!
A printer that prints on all kinds of crafty surfaces, like vinyl, or recycled CD's, is perfect for our classroom, because in Design Crafts, my students explore working with all kinds of materials like yarn, tree branches, paper mache and sugar... and now they will have the opportunity to craft with vinyl adhesive!
Right away, I plan to use this resource for the Nature Journals my students began this year. First, they will design an original sticker based on their favorite California native wildflower, bird, butterfly, or another animal native or endangered in California. Later, I plan to have them recreate their favorite art style or project from this year in Design Crafts, translated in a sticker form- like a Sugar Skull for example!
Teaching middle school is challenging, but by creating and teaching engaging and exciting projects that make learning fun -like a custom designed sticker- I feel happy! And knowing the joy my students will experience through the creative process of designing their own unique and original custom stickers makes me even happier!
