Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The composter, organic fertilizer, seedlings, vegetable seeds, pepper plants, and other items we’re requesting will provide hands-on learning experiences that deepen students’ understanding of science, culinary, sustainability, and responsibility. Students will be able to understand where everything starts from the items they wear to the paper the use daily. By working in the school garden, students will explore plant life cycles, ecosystems, and nutrition in a tangible way that reinforces classroom lessons. These materials will also foster teamwork and problem-solving skills as students collaborate to grow and maintain their garden.

Our goal for this project is to create an engaging, interactive outdoor classroom where students can develop a love for nature, learn about healthy food choices, and gain a sense of ownership and pride in their work.

We aim to make the garden a space for cross-curricular learning, integrating science, math, and even literacy through observation, journaling, and data collection.

What makes our students special is their curiosity, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn through hands-on experiences which is what all of our CTE programs offer. They thrive when given opportunities to explore, experiment, and connect with the world around them. The school garden will empower them to take an active role in their learning while fostering a sense of community.
