Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year I was able to create the school's first Garden and Nature club. I wasn't sure students would be interested but I was mistaken. Kids grades K-5 showed such a deep passion and love for learning even when it was required. This passion has inspired me to dig even deeper. We have plans to even expand the club next year to include more kids and tackle bigger projects. The love for gardening has even grown in our Saturday school program. The school has a deep history of gardening. We have black and white photos of students who grew Victory Gardens during the World Wars. Even though our community has changed, its time to get the school connected back to its gardening roots. I would love to grow the program so big it can continue long after I am done teaching. Please support in anyway you can.
