Lights, Camera, Action! Would you like to give students the technology necessary to learn the ins and outs of media broadcasting at a school level? Our Broadcast team is in desperate need of Broadcast equipment!
I have 12 5th grade students that are on our broadcast team.
These students have behavior and academic expectations they need to meet to maintain eligibility to remain on the team. These students then meet weekly to create scripts, work on "advertisements", and create commercials for the school. Our school is a Title I school, where students may not have the opportunity to work with technology at home.
Channel 65 Broadcast is an opportunity for students to pursue and learn an understanding of the technical side and the talent side of broadcast media. Students will be responsible for writing scripts for the morning broadcast, coming up with puzzlers, researching information, taping interviews and other media related tasks. Students will also have the opportunity to work with producers from WTVP television studio for more training in the production world. The big project will be an end of the year commercial highlighting all of the wonderful learning opportunities that take place! What are some of the duties for a channel 65 broadcast member? - anchors for the morning broadcast on Channel 65 - Writing daily scripts for the broadcast - interview star students for various reasons (basketball, cheer leading, 4-H, boy scouts, etc) - interviewing teachers to be highlighted on the broadcast - researching various facts to be used on broadcast
Students that have the opportunity to participate in the broadcast team become a positive role model for other students in the building, learn leadership skills that are easily transferred into core content, and the opportunity to work closely with our local public broadcasting station.
Our broadcasters would be grateful for new equipment to help our morning broadcast be successful!
