Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I need food to stock the shelves of the school based food pantry that I run. Each week about 15 to 20 families come to get food. Families with full kitchens leave with 2 bags of food including rice, beans and pasta.
Migrant families staying in hotels also receive 2 bags that include microwave meals.
Both sets of bags include peanut butter, jelly and cereal, among other items.
Over the past few weeks, three schools have registered about 10 migrant families and we're expecting at least a dozen more. I want to continue to help all families but I'm running out funds that I have received through a grant.
