Help me give my students access to engaging content to support their reading.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. B.'s classroom raised $833
This project is fully funded
My Students
My diverse class consists of thirty students. The school is located in Crown Heights Brooklyn. The class reflects the cultural and linguistic diversity of the neighborhood. My students vary in their learning needs.
Although struggling, they are striving to read engaging nonfiction books.
The quality of books affects the amount that they read or even if they read at all. Reading quality non-fiction books is a goal in my low-income, and Title one school. Eighty percent of the students at my school receive free lunch. In spite of their needs, they thirst for engaging books.
My Project
My students will be learning 100% remote. They will need access to quality digital content from home. Each student will be able to read these magazines via Google Classroom.
The Scholastic magazines will provide differentiation for the varied readers in my class.
Having these resources will make a difference for my students because the can build their reading comprehension skills.
The digital magazines will be used for small groups led by the teacher. In addition, the magazines can be used for group and independent work. StoryWorks and the Scholastics News complement the literacy curriculum and provides much needed practice of the various comprehension skills.
