Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are tenacious individuals who showed resilience last spring. They came to their speech sessions every day willing to participate in discussions and share their thoughts and ideas. They made it through some online materials but struggled with utilizing various methods to complete tasks and assignments.

My Project

The Scholastic Magazines be used to enhance not only reading skills but awareness and understanding of issues and varying thought processes around the country and the world. The Magazines also will help my students in addressing their reading comprehension skills, develop new vocabulary, work on analyzing texts as well as the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. It also allows them to learn while doing as they are typically engaged in both community and global projects. This year while at home these magazines would help open their eyes to other issues and engage them in developing other methods of involvement than the ones they are already used to.
