My Students

Can you imagine being in an Inclusion classroom and not having the resources and supplies you need to be successful and engaged or have the ability to support all the needs in your class? Our fifth graders need classrooms that have the supplies necessary to teach students with diverse needs.

I am a teacher in a public school that is located in an urban district.

I teach in an Inclusion classroom within a 5th grade teach that consists of 125 students who are a mix of English language learners, accelerated learners and Special Education students who receive services that range from speech and language, occupational therapy, and academic support for learning disabilities.

My inclusion classroom embraces students who not only have varying levels of English to students with all levels of special education services. This project will make it possible for me to support all of my students.

My Project

My 5th grade students will learn to love reading because they are reading high interest text about issues that are relevant to them and their world.

Many of our students are second language learners and below level readers who LOVE learning about the world.

Having not only a subscription to the magazine, but access to the digital version, will improve their access to grade level high interest material. Also, having the magazine as a routine will be instrumental to their overall success in reading!

The classroom supplies such as binder dividers will also ensure that our students are organized and able to keep track of the work they do each day with quality materials.
