My Students

My students are eager learners from diverse backgrounds in a working class area. This year my class is composed of 26 students who are on a variety of academic levels. Many of them come from homes where they speak English as a second language. They are all very hardworking and helpful children. I'm seeking resources that will help our classroom thrive and meet the challenging common core Standards. With your help, my students can get what they need. Thank you.

My Project

My students love learning about current events, history, and science. They are at an age where their awareness of the world around them is growing and the Scholastic News will engage their interest in learning many subjects. The magazines are very high interest and will inspire students to read and learn a variety of subjects and have fun doing so.

We will use these magazines on a weekly basis to help address our learning standards and to make connections with our science and social studies standards.

In addition, students will practice comprehension skills and build vocabulary which is greatly needed in my English Learner population.
