My Students

My classroom is a mix of regular and special education, suburban students. They often do not have access to extracurricular materials or activities. Having a consistent piece of shared writing that they can take home would be perfect for these students.

My students are a wonderful bunch of eager to learn third graders.

We love reading in my class, and make it a daily part of our lives. We live in a rural/suburban setting where the students can easily become caught up in local news, but miss out on news from around the world.

My Project

I am requesting 24 subscriptions to Scholastic News magazine to help them connect to current events from the world around them. My students have a very difficult time using newspapers and magazines that are commonly found in libraries and newsstands. These magazines are informative and written by kids at the same age of my students! They would be a great resource to use during reader's and writer's workshop, or our genius hour!

My students will be able to learn about current events in our world and how we are dealing with them right now.

My students need authentic research materials to help them connect to the news of the world around them. By giving to this project, you will give my students access to materials that they normally wouldn't be able to get. Thank you so much for your support in my efforts to expose my students to the world outside of our little town.
