Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class consists of 27 wonderful students who are learning to read and use technology. Due to the pandemic, we have not been able to meet in person but I am meeting with them via Zoom every day. My students have so much potential and are missing some key resources. We are a Title I school and all of our students receive free meals throughout the day.

My Project

This magazine subscription is jam-packed with resources to make literacy and STEM more engaging for my students.

My students will receive access to a child-friendly magazine filled with current events that are relevant to their lives and experiences.

I can also purchase resources from Teachers Pay Teachers that will help them understand government, social issues, and how they can become involved citizens. Additionally, we can do STEM activities related to these topics and encourage kids from all backgrounds to become scientists. The If/Then collection will allow students, especially girls, to consider a STEM career.

This is also a great resource to build literacy skills. Students have an opportunity to learn new vocabulary, practice answering questions with textual evidence, and forming opinions. My students will really enjoy learning a variety of skills while using this magazine and will especially grow in their love and appreciation for reading.
