My Students

Our students are an amazing group of first graders!! They are full time in person this year. I am looking to provide Scholastic News for my first grade class this year. This wonderful child friendly tool would be used during SS and ELA lessons. My students love school and learning. Teaching first grade is a true joy! I feel Scholastic News is a wonderful hands on learning tool for our students. It will expose students to important current events, holidays, and monthly topics that will assist all students in reading, building vocabulary, understanding current events and will assist students when writing. The first grades in my class are a curious, hard working group of children who will love using this tool to learn about current events and holidays.

My Project

This project will be used for my first grade students. Myself and my co-teacher will be teaching students monthly lessons and topics that are required to meet the New York State Standards. This wonderful tool will provide students with a hard copy text of additional resources that align with these standards. Students will use the text to read, answer comprehension questions, and build vocabulary. Students will learn and explore new topics that will support Social Studies topics. All children will take the Scholastic Newspaper home each month and share all about the new topics they have learned in school.
