Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every student deserves the opportunity to engage in text in fun ways as well as to have a thinking space available when needed during the school day. This is especially true for our special needs preschool students.

Our preschool students deserve the opportunity to experience text in fun, approachable, and engaging ways and to have a classroom environment that suits all their needs.

Although our incredible preschool students have different abilities, they bring to our school community a beautiful mix of cultures, languages, and needs which contributes to our incredible school community. These students are some of our youngest and although they are not yet readers, they still need to have ample opportunities to engage with text and different text types. These scholastic news articles are an incredible opportunity for our students to experience real life articles, topics, pictures, and learning options which they should have.

Not only that but these incredible preschoolers deserve to have the same learning space options as the rest of their peers. Our school has done great work in creating thinking space for students to access when needed to allow them the time and space to center themselves in moments of need during the day. Although many of your special education students are limited verbally, they have other ways of communicating their needs emotionally and academically. Adding some additional essential items to expand their classroom thinking space will ensue they have a variety of options to help them find calm and rejoin their class after strong moments of emotion.
