My Students

My students are enrolled in a 50/50 English/Spanish dual-immersion program, where they receive 50% of instruction is Spanish and 50% of instruction in English every day by two different teachers. I will be working with roughly 48 (I know!!) students who are all of diverse backgrounds, and aiming to become bilingual citizens in this global economy.

Our school is a Title 1 school where 60% of the students are socioeconomically disadvantaged.

The students are all eager and excited to learn every day they come to school. They are as energetic as they can get! They deserve the best education possible and I want to give that to them.

My Project

All these materials are basic materials that I realized I needed during the end of my first-year teaching last year. Simple things such as, printer paper to print out self-made sheets, a map to use year-round but specifically for an identity project where the cotton twine (also requested) will be used to connect the students’ pictures to the location of their roots. The laminating pouches will be used to protect things I want to last and make my own charts and bathroom/hall passes for my students.

The easel would be used during mini-lessons and/or small groups for math and writing workshop, because last year it was a struggle to and to start up flexible seating and provide a nicer and more comfy space for my students, I’ve also requested cushions and a couple of stability discs they could freely use when they are working independently.

I also requested a Bluetooth speaker that will be used for our Mystery Science lessons which requires video and audio, and during our mindfulness activities, because last year I had to use my laptop speakers which weren’t loud enough for my students.

My students and I would really benefit for all of this. And because I know I need to improve and keep learning more as a teacher, I also requested a couple of books that I know will help me this upcoming school year in my growth as an educator. What I learn through these books will reflect in my teaching as I implement whatever I think would benefit my kids. Thank you so much for your support!
