This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I'm fortunate to be in my twentieth year of teaching at a school I love, in a new position as a fifth-grade writing teacher. i will be serving a daily rotation of eighty-five, engaged and enthusiastic students who would be the envy of any teacher's heart.

Simply put, I love to teach, my students love to write, and I want to create a classroom environment that maximizes their potential.

With each day, comes new lessons. I want my students to have what they need to be free to consider and study my lessons so they can apply themselves to the hard work of learning to write. Right now, we are doing the best we can with hand-me-down tables that creak and rock at the slightest touch. While I am impressed with my students' fortitude and focus under current conditions, I am hopeful that the generous DonorsChoose community will come to our aid and give us what we need, durable and inviting tables that will last for years.
