This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a model school that incorporates performing arts, visual arts, coding, computer science, and STEM (STEAM) within the curriculum. Our urban school receives federal funding for programs that provide free breakfast and lunch for every student, and Title I services to economically disadvantaged boys and girls. We are a class which includes military families, gifted/talented students, ESL/ELL students, inclusion/special education students, and the tech savvy. My students are energetic and very busy within the classroom. Even with parental support, I would love to say that my students have everything that they need to be successful. But they don't. We are preparing students for college, the workforce, and the world beyond, so they can have a better life.
My Project
I am requesting a variety of snacks, water, and juice for my students who will be staying after school and participating in the Grow and Learn More program this year. The program includes a remediation program for students who need more assistance in core subject areas to be better prepared for secondary education and computer programming for those students interested in computer science and coding. After moving around the class to build a more stable academic foundation, my students get thirsty and hungry. They will need a snack to get them back on track. We try very hard to provide everything that our students will need, but sometimes we need help. We are grateful that our parents are supportive of this after school initiative. Please make a difference in the lives of my students. I want them to be able to focus on their studies and not worry about being hungry. Please help them to be the best that they can be.
This is a small request that will make a huge difference in their day.
Sometime it's the little things that matter the most. Please help and keep our students' focus on learning for a better future and tomorrow.
