My Students

Each day my students come in full of life, energy, and light. They are all ready to learn and eager to start new projects that require deep thinking. In our classroom we are all a vital part of a community that supports and cares for one another. My mantra is all about fostering kindness and it is something that we all work on as a class by setting "Kindness Goals" each week. We set our expectations high and know that the sky is the limit- not only when it comes to kindness but our academic work as well.

My Project

My students are frequently asked to express their thinking through cumulative projects in reading, math, and social studies. A Cricut would allow them to say and express their thinking in a way that is creative and true to them. For example, we are currently constructing debates in small groups to support a position within a conflict of Kate DiCamillo's "The Tiger Rising." An important aspect of debate is presentation, allowing the students to present their thinking in a creative way can help them portray it more effectively. This is not the only aspect of academic work where a Cricut would be useful, there are several group projects that will be taking place over the course of this year where this kind of expression would be encouraged.

Additionally, it can be used to label our classroom effectively for the several of the students who are English Language Learners.
