I am a young teacher, who teaches in an extremely rural area made up of mostly low-income families. I am trying to take the strain off of families by trying to be able to provide my students with the necessary supplies to be successful in the second grade.
The “Saving Second Grade” project will allow students to receive the supplies they need for the 24-25 school year.
In second grade, I plan on using the binders as a communication binder. This binder will allow me to send information back and forth with students so that parents feel like they can be involved in their child's education. Headphones constantly stop working. I am asking for a set of headphones that I can keep in the classroom so that every student is able to have a pair of headphones to use with their iPad. In second grade, students use their iPads to practice both reading and math skills. Headphones are essential to help students concentrate.
All of these supplies, from folders, notebooks, binders, glue sticks, and crayons, will help my students be successful in second grade and provide students with the supplies they need.
My vision is to set the school supplies up like a store and allow students to pick out their supplies. I want them to feel like they are getting the chance to “shop” for supplies so they can display their personality while taking a financial hardship off of their parents.
