This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

If I could describe my students in a one word it would have to be AMAZING. These kids come from all over the county in order to attend a good school away from their home school which is normally in a poverty stricken neighborhood where education is not pushed or encouraged. Also at M.L.T. Educational Center is a school that is going to gear them and prepare them for life after school.

Some of my students wake up at 430 AM and take 2 or 3 public buses in order to get to school because their parents are working or they do not have a rides.

If that is not dedication and desire I don't know what is. There are days in my classroom I cant get away from the front or finish the days lecture because of all the great question all my students have. As their teacher all I can do is prepare a great lesson and know as much of the content that I can learn in order to be informed and answer all of their questions.

My Project

My students need Trauma Bag, Elastic Bandages, EpiPen Trainer and other Medical Supplies found in an Emergency Kit to use in our first responder club competition. These Materials will be a big help for my students. In first responder club we go through materials like wild fire. Every other day my students practice their individual skills and burn through materials. A lot of the time we have to save Ace bandages and gauze to reuse for training purposes. In order for my students to be proficient in their skills they need good high quality materials that they can use and practice with. Also by having nice new materials my students motivation will defiantly increase moral for the club. Lastly we like to practice like if it would be a real life scenario so having high quality material that they can be ready for any scenario they me be thrown into.

By having these materials in stock my students will be able to practice wrapping wounds.

The trauma blankets are crucial to our practice since one of the main reasons patients do not survive is do to shock so teaching them how to properly package a patient is imperative in the EMS world. The neck braces and opa's along with everything else will give my student real life hands on experience on how to use the equipment that they will see in the field after graduation.
