Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This is the first year students at this district will be receiving music instruction! Students will also be making the transition to in-person learning which will be both exciting and challenging.

The students at these schools come from a range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Many of them are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch and are in need of basic classroom supplies to excel at school.

I am a first-year first-generation Latinx music teacher who is excited to bring my passion for music to these students in a safe and inclusive environment. My students and I would greatly appreciate all the music resources that are added to our music classroom. Thank you so much for being a part of our music community.

My Project

These music materials will enhance learning for all students in the music classroom. Handbells will be used for teaching the concepts of rhythm and melody for first through fifth grades.

Students will be sharing handbell sets to learn to play songs as a group while keeping a steady beat and tracking the music notes.

Music scarves will be used to teach students about form (the structure of a song) and texture (voicing and harmony). The egg shakers will be used to teach students about steady beat and dynamics (the volume in music). Thank you for investing in our students' music education!
